Obafemi Martins Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua has announced that the Nigerian-born striker will be out of action for up to seven months due to a torn hamstring.
Martins got the injury during Shanghai Shenhua’s clash against Kashima Antlers in the Asian Champions League on Tuesday and it has led to speculations on whether he will be included in the Nigeria world cup squad given that the most anticipated football competition in the world is just two months away.
The former Inter Milan striker was carried off midway through the first half of the match which ended 2-2 and Shenhua announced on their official website on Wednesday that he is out long-term.
